Ron & Marti's Big Adventure

December 12th

Ron and I are getting excited, can't believe we only have 12 more sleeps! I'm going to start packing this week, oh what to bring, how many shoes should I bring or should I say can I bring.

Hotels and domestic flights are booked, and we've already booked one tour in Chiang Rai.

Will check in at a later date. Stay tuned!

Well it's 10:15 am Dec. 24th and we'll be boarding at 11:00am. So excited to begin our adventure. First leg from Toronto to Seoul, Korea - 15 hours, then onto Bangkok - 5 hours.

Sure we'll see Santa, I'll make sure I direct him to Canada with lots of nice presents.

I'll check in during our flight!

Good morning, we finally made it after almost 24 hours of travelling. The flight wasn't too bad, Korean Airlines is a very good airline, excellent customer service.

We are at the Best Western Premier Amaranth in Bangkok for one night. Our next stop is the "Phowadol Resort & Spa" in Chiang Rai. It's a quick flight just over an hour. Looking forward to a nice relaxing day and preparing for our Big Adventure! Maybe we'll get a massage today, one of many I think!

We had a nice relaxing day yesterday at the resort, getting our bearings. Still getting climatized here.

There was a wedding at the resort last night, and they lit lanterns and let them go into the evening sky, what a beautiful custom.

Chiang Rai is the most northern part of Thailand, and the temp drops quite a bit in the evening. It was actually a little chilly last night. Had a great breakie this morning. Ron had soup and salad along with eggs, he's loving the food and so am I!

On the agenda today, going for a traditional Thai massage in about an hour. At noon we are off to visit the White Temple and going to the Flower Festival. Tomorrow is an all day tour with tons of activities planned, eg elephant camp, rafting ....

Just back from a tour to the White Temple and Flower Show. The White Temple was spectacular, it glitters, due to a combination of white wash and clear mirrored chips. Inside the temple the artist has painted scenes representing the "samsara' (the realm of rebirth and delusion). A coulage of Images, one of the plane smashing into the Twin Towers, Michael Jackson, Keanu Reeves from the Matrix and many others, quite interesting.

Onto the Flower Show, stunning displays and this show was massive - spent a couple of hours there. It was beautiful.

Going to have a little nap and the go to dinner. Tomorrow is an all day tour, Elephant camp, rafting, visiting a hot spring, going to the hill tribes, sounds exciting to me!
